For the better part of a year I have been working on several fiction novels. At the beginning of this year, I chose to fully focus on one novel in order to finish it and send it off to my editor.
The novel, "Kyanite Fairywing The Missing Shadowbooks", was about a fairy girl who solves mysteries and in this case was looking for some ancient missing books with help from her magical friends. A beautiful book cover was created and I joyously shared this everywhere as another step in the journey was completed. Seeing the cover energized me and I was able to complete the book at the end of May. I released it to my editor and waited for her feedback. My goal was to have this book ready for production by late Fall.
What I didn't realize was that the Universe had other plans for me, for us, me and my book. Several weeks later I received an email from my editor with beautiful feedback on the book. However, as I read and reread her comments I realized something wasn't right. Rather than preparing for a round of edits, I realized that no editing could fix the fact that I felt this story didn't resonate with my truth and the work I wanted to put out in the world.
While I loved the story and my characters deeply, they were a part of me afterall, I no longer resonated with the cute mystery story I had first created almost a year ago. I didn't want my characters running around trying to find missing books. I wanted them spreading love, helping each other, healing their hearts, finding their power, and being courageous souls. I realized the stories could be so much more. And that they could offer so much more to all of you.
With that being said, I made the decision to completely rewrite the book. And I know that with the new book, "Kyanite Fairywing and Lilac's Heart, A Shadowbook Adventure" I will be speaking my truth and showing up in the world as a bringer of Light, love, healing, and magic.
